Well, this will date me, but when I was four years old, my parents took me to see the original cinema release of Superman. Christopher Reeve was, and remains, perfectly cast, and subsequent attempts to fill the role have been patchy at best.
My childhood coincided with an upsurge in TV and movie adaptations of superhero IP, such as The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman, and The Amazing Spider-Man. DC and Marvel characters had quite an impact on me, so it’s a little strange that I haven’t done a great deal about creating successful caricatures of the actors who made them flesh in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
To address this omission, I’ve been thinking it’s time to begin a painting of Reeve as Krypton’s famous son…
