I’ve been dealing with some health issues recently, the details of which I’ve no intention of imposing upon you here. I only mention it by way of an apology for the slightly sporadic nature of my Substack posts of late.
So, while I have a pause in medical proceedings, I thought I’d offer you a short article about a commissioned piece I painted a while back. It’s a caricature of the actress Ellen Terry in her role as Lady Macbeth, and it’s based on the remarkable portrait from 1889 by the mighty John Singer Sargent.
